You cannot tell by looking how fast water runs through a soil. You test it.

Flora puts the same amount of each soil in a cup with holes in the bottom.

She stands each cup on a jar.

Three cups with holes, three jars. The same amount of soil in each cup; one full cup of water for each.

She pours one full cup of water onto each soil and waits one minute.

Under the pale soil, the jar is nearly full. The water ran through fast.

Under the orange soil, the jar is nearly empty. The water sits on top of the soil.

Under the dark soil, the jar is part full. Some water ran through.

After one minute. Sandy soil: the water ran through fast. Garden soil: some ran through. Clay soil: the water sits on top.
