The intro script (118 words, about 59 s)

Here's Miss Gallagher's class in the school hallway. A book cart rolls away down the ramp, bangs into the wall, and the books slide off onto the floor. Hazel wants to build something that stops the cart gently. But what should she make it from, and how will the class know if it works? And if it fails the first time, what should she change? Every engineer who builds a bridge or a bike helmet asks the same questions. To find out, we will look at how to build something for a job, test it, tell which design did better, and make it better. Okay, so are you ready to design something, test it and make it better?

The question types (from TYPES_G5T07.md)

  1. Type 1 (easy, medium · MCQ, the device set · 014): which device goes in the loop for a stated job; which part gives out the sound; the criterion's verb (rise) → device — a buzzer / a bulb / a motor / a battery
  2. Type 2 (easy, medium · MCQ · 014): which change makes a drawn or described loop do its job (close the switch; swap the device; add the second wire; which part makes it work only while held) — four changes / four parts
  3. Type 3 (medium · typed · 014): the name of the device for a stated job — buzzer / motor / bulb, with article, plural and child spellings
  4. Type 4 (easy · MCQ, the first-step set · 014): what the builder does first — say what the job needs… / clip the wires… / pick the longest wire… / paint the battery…
  5. Type 5 (easy · MCQ · 026): which line is a criterion; what kind of line a materials line is — four lines / criterion, constraint, failure point, fair test
  6. Type 6 (easy, medium · MCQ · 026): which push a barrier must give; which barrier stops a thing little by little; the correct reason the foam is gentler — four pushes / four barriers / four reasons
  7. Type 7 (easy → hard · MCQ · 026, 041): the routine's steps and checks: what comes first / next; the check against the criterion; a plan outside the constraint; which tries are a fair test; does it meet the criterion; both criterion and constraint (hard); why re-test the same way (hard, SR5-041) — four steps / checks / sets of tries
  8. Type 8 (easy → hard · MCQ, drawn result table · 040): which design did better against the stated criterion; the same pair under a new criterion; looks set aside with counts compared (hard) — the two named designs / both the same / neither
  9. Type 9 (medium, hard · MCQ and one multi · 040): what decides which did better; which criterion can be tested; which experiment plan did better against "only one thing changes"; two criteria chained (hard); the claim's correct reason (hard); the TWO things that decide (multi, hard) — four things / four plans / four reasons
  10. Type 10 (easy → hard · MCQ and one multi · 041): which part to change next from where it failed; where the failure point is; which part to KEEP (hard); nothing to change when it passed (hard); the claim's correct reason (hard); the TWO failure points (multi, hard); the term recognised — four named parts / four reasons / the term among criterion, constraint, fair test

Six lesson pages on four atoms, in Miss Gallagher's class with Greta, Hazel and Hector; the last topic of Physics.

Greta's classroom door is around a corner and nobody hears a knock, so L01 teaches: say what the job needs the circuit to give out, then put that device into a complete loop (a buzzer for sound, a bulb for light, a motor for movement), with a push switch so it sounds only while pressed.

Hazel's library book cart rolls down the hallway ramp and bangs into the wall, so L02 writes the problem as a criterion and a constraint (Grade 4's words, recapped in Grade 4's sentences) and says what push the barrier must give: a gentle push against the direction the cart rolls, from something that squashes; L02b draws the plan, checks it, builds it and tests it the same fair way three times.

L03 judges Hazel's sponges against Hector's painted cardboard under the same criterion (the book stays on in more tries: Hazel's 2 of 3, Hector's 1 of 3), shows that paint and height change nothing and that one failed try is weak evidence, then flips the verdict with a different criterion (the shorter stop); L03b does the same for two experiment plans against the criterion for a fair test.

L04 is the capstone: Hector says his barrier failed, so he will start again; the lesson finds the failure point (the hard front), changes that part, keeps the cardboard that worked, and coins "failure point" (the standards' word).

"Success rule" is never said — the criterion is the word. No "gravity", no lettered case, no invented belief; the two claims in the lessons are the register's own.

The non-author review opened every figure and every page: one ramp figure had the cart drawn through the wall and is redrawn; four more figures and ten lines of text are tidied; every gate is back at its stated result. The blind read by two cold readers is next; pictures are placeholders until the picture pass.

The questions the author put to you

None. The author's record asks nothing; the review found nothing whose answer would change what a student learns (the collisions it met — typed items tagged medium, six pages on a four-atom row — are decided and recorded in the build record).

Applied without asking

8 Oct 2026, the non-author review (REVIEW_G5T07_2026-10-08.md): the runaway-cart figure redrawn with the cart at the wall's face (it had been drawn through the wall); the PUSH chip moved off the cart's wheel; two sponge labels moved off the wall; L04's fixed-barrier figure now shows the cardboard behind the sponge, as the text says; the plans verdict strip's first row shortened to fit its frame; the summary still's circuit lifted off the ramp. Text: "around a corner" (US idiom); one comma splice split into two lines; L03's claim stem and the summary's string-telephone stem trimmed; L03b q8 no longer has Hazel voicing a belief the register does not name; the mittens practice item gains a hand warmer so its readings can happen; three bank lines reworded ("nothing tries back" → "no wire runs back to the battery"; a why that added "without tipping it"; the raft claim's key). No key index changed. Changed ids are listed in the review record for the cold readers.

After you read

Nothing waits on you here. The blind read (two cold readers on blind/2026-10-08-reviewed/) runs next, then the picture pass on the nine placeholders. The eight-video batch is built and checked and sits in handoff/G5T07/videos/; it goes only on your word, as every Physics topic's does.
