Topic 10 — question types in the PP100 bank, one exemplar each (2 October 2026; v2 the same evening, the reviews applied; v3 the polish pass from the re-read)
James reviews a bank as its question TYPES first, one exemplar each (vault: 50 Decisions/A bank is reviewed as its question types first, one exemplar each.md). This sheet lists the ten types the Grade 4 Topic 10 bank runs on and prints one exemplar per type in full as it ships in content/G4T10_pp100_bank.py. Item ids are the bank's positions (PP-1 … PP-50) after the v2 renumbering (the old → new map is in BUILD_RECORD_G4T10.md, v2 section). Every bank item carries type_, its number below. Typed items are starred. Under the standing brief (James, 2 Oct 2026: "go straight to the lessons") the bank is built in the same pass as the lessons; this sheet is the first thing James reads, and any type he strikes is removed with its items.
One cluster. The topic is one PP100 cluster of three atoms (ENE4-063 → 064 → 065, capstone 065). Items per atom: 17 · 17 · 16. Tiers: 20 easy · 21 medium · 9 hard (5 typed, 1 multi-select, 3 four-option MCQs); three more typed items (sound, motion, light produced from a scene) sit in the medium tier on the reviewer's ruling of 2 Oct 2026 — one step, not a chain. The hard tier recalls the one coined term (current) twice by typing, produces a part's name (battery, switch) by typing, and produces the heat a lit bulb gives out — the one children miss.
The bar list (things a generated bank must never use because they break a taught claim or a rule): light, sound and electricity are never "a form of energy" in any option; "electricity is used up" and "energy is used up" appear only inside a claim the key corrects; the battery is "a box of electricity" only inside such a claim; no mains-powered device is the scene's circuit (the topic's loop is a battery loop); a bulb never appears under a single-answer "what does it give out?" with both light and heat as options (it gives out both — the item asks "what else", or is the multi-select, or offers no heat option); no LED candle or LED anything as a thing that gets warm (an LED stays cool); no non-US thing; the lessons' own things (Donna's loop, the spare wire, Drew's long wires and two bulbs, the buzzer and motor swaps, the open switch) and the quiz / practice scenes (bike light, camping lantern, toy robot, reading light, toy car, doorbell, smoke alarm, string of small bulbs, electric toothbrush, pinwheel, battery night light, hand-held fan, toy lantern, clip-on book light, flashlight, a buzzer heard across a room) never appear as a bank scene; no headache character (Donna, Drew, Dylan, Miss Cruz) appears in a bank item — claim-makers are "a boy" / "a girl"; a typed stem asks for "the science word", so "electricity" (for current) is not an answer; "button" IS accepted for switch (v3: L01-04 and PP-4 teach that the button is the switch).
The ten types
| # | Question type | Exemplar | Items | Count | Hard end |

| 4 | Where the current flows / what it carries / what receives it; four options. | PP-12 | PP-12, PP-13, PP-15, PP-16, PP-29, PP-31 | 6 | none — easy and medium |
| 5 | Predict: a part removed, a device moved far, two bulbs, a loop broken, a hot coil; four outcomes of one shape. | PP-26 | PP-23, PP-26, PP-27, PP-30, PP-32, PP-37, PP-38, PP-47 | 8 | PP-47 (current and energy together) |

| 7 | Pick the device from what the circuit gives out; bulb / buzzer / motor / switch. | PP-33 | PP-33, PP-34 | 2 | none — medium |
| 8 | The true sentence about the current or about a working circuit (every option the same shape); a term from its meaning; the energy followed two moves. | PP-14 | PP-11, PP-14, PP-20, PP-50 | 4 | PP-50 (two moves of the energy) |
| 9 | Type the science word: a part's name from its job, the term current, or what a device gives out. | PP-44* | PP-39–41 (medium), PP-42–45, PP-48* (hard) | 8 | five hard, all typed |
| 10 | Multi-select: everything a lit bulb gives out. | PP-49 | PP-49 | 1 | hard |
The exemplars, in full
Type 1 — PP-1 (easy, ENE4-063). A headlamp holds a battery, a bulb, a switch and wires. Which part gives the energy?
Options: the bulb · the switch · the battery · the wires.
Why: Each part of a circuit has its own job. The battery has energy to give. So the battery gives the energy.
Type 2 — PP-5 (easy, ENE4-063). What is the job of the battery in a circuit?
Options: to give out light · to join the parts into one loop · to give the energy · to complete or break the loop.
Why: The battery has energy to give. So the battery's job is to give the energy.
Type 3 — PP-21 (medium, ENE4-063). A boy says a switch makes the electricity when you press it. Which sentence shows he is wrong?
Options: The switch only closes or opens a gap in the loop. · The switch gives the energy. · The switch gives out light. · The switch is the only part with a job.
Why: The switch's job is to complete or break the loop. It closes a gap or opens a gap. So the switch makes no electricity.
Type 4 — PP-12 (easy, ENE4-064). A toy boat has a battery, a switch and a motor joined in one complete loop. Where does the current flow?
Options: only inside the battery · only inside the motor · only along one wire · all the way around the loop.
Why: When the loop is complete, electricity flows all the way around it. That flowing electricity is the current. So the current flows all the way around the loop.
Type 5 — PP-26 (medium, ENE4-064). A buzzer that sounds beside its battery is moved to the end of two long wires in the same loop. What happens?
Options: The buzzer stays silent. · The buzzer still sounds. · The buzzer sounds only for a moment. · The buzzer sounds more quietly.
Why: The current flows all the way around the complete loop. The current reaches the far buzzer, so the energy reaches it. So the buzzer still sounds.
(Every option is one clause, one happening of the buzzer; the key carries no reason.)
Type 6 — PP-17 (easy, ENE4-065). A battery is joined in a loop to a small bell, and the bell rings. What does the bell give out?
Options: light · heat · sound · motion.
Why: The bell rings, and ringing is a sound. So the bell gives out sound.
Type 7 — PP-33 (medium, ENE4-065). A circuit gives out sound. Which part is in its loop?
Options: a bulb · a buzzer · a motor · a switch.
Why: A buzzer gives out sound. A bulb gives out light and heat, and a motor gives out motion. So the part is a buzzer.
Type 8 — PP-14 (easy, ENE4-064). Which sentence about the current in a complete loop is true?
Options: The current carries energy from the bulb to the battery. · The current stays inside the battery. · The current flows only when the switch is open. · The current carries energy from the battery to the bulb.
Why: The current carries energy from the battery to the bulb. It flows all the way around the loop, and only when the loop is complete.
Type 9 — PP-44\* (hard, ENE4-064, typed). A loop of battery, wires and a bell is complete, and electricity flows all the way around it. Type the science word for the electricity flowing around the loop.
Accept: current · the current · a current · currents · curent · currant · electric current (and the article forms). Not accepted: electricity — the stem names it and asks for its science word.
Why: The electricity flowing around the loop is called the current. The current carries energy from the battery to the bell.
Hard because: the student must produce the coined term from its meaning, by recall.
Type 10 — PP-49 (hard, ENE4-065, multi-select). A bulb glows in a complete loop. Select everything the bulb gives out.
Options: light · heat · sound · motion.
Why: A bulb gives out light and heat. It gives out no sound and no motion. So the set is light and heat.
Hard because: the answer is a SET, and picking it needs both things a bulb gives out at once.
Design-move inventory (the bank's lines; the lesson side is in BUILD_RECORD_G4T10.md)
Columns: id · move · scene kind · nearest earlier item. "New" = no earlier item shares the move AND the scene kind. The freshness grep (every bank scene noun against every headache, article line, caption, script beat, quiz, attached, practice, intro and summary string) is printed in BUILD_RECORD v2: 0 lesson-side hits for every bank noun except "long wires", which PP-26 and PP-27 share with L02's lesson scene by design (the far device is the lesson's own fact; the devices and the arrangement differ).
