Grade 5: rulings backlog (none of these blocks the build)

Status: 9 October 2026, evening. James: "I think I've ruled on the most crucial ones already. So I'd suggest moving those into a separate list, which I can rule on when I have time … they shouldn't be a blocker to producing the rest of the course." Reminder due Monday 12 October.

Three open cards, all on existing pages. Each is a one-tap card there; nothing here needs a new ruling shape. The course is complete and live without them; each has a recorded default that stands until ruled.

#QuestionDefault in forceWhere to rule
1The newton: should Topic 3's force investigation read a spring scale in newtons? As built: arrows, no spring scale, no newton (the unit waits for grades 6–8). Recommendation on the card: add the spring scale and coin the newton in one told sentence, recognition only.Topic 3 Needs-you page
2Strand-test pass mark: 27 of 30 or 26?27 of 30 (Grade 3's provisional figure). Recommendation: 26, for Grades 3 and 5 alike.Grade 5 tests page
3End-of-grade pass mark43 of 47 (first whole score at or above 90 per cent). Recommendation: 43.Grade 5 tests page

Already ruled through the ten-card page, now marked on their topic pages: Topic 1 (evidence "supports"), Topic 6 ("electrical energy" once), Topic 10 (chemical and physical change), Topic 29 ("function" once). Their Needs-you pages showed these as open until tonight; they were not.

Decided for the student and recorded, yours to reverse at any time (not rulings owed): Topic 25's three calls (the grass's thermal-energy arrow, Grade 4's recall verb, article lengths); Topic 4's note on where "positive and negative charges attract" is taught; every topic's bite-size calls; the recall bank's nine reworded items.

What happens when a ruling lands: the pass marks are written into each form's routing line and the architecture and the test export goes; the newton ruling, if "add", changes Topic 3 L01's drawing, two article lines, one script beat and three items, re-read cold, with the video edited by id.
